Touch the moonlight in Encinitas

The spectacular views and wide shoreline of Moonlight State Beach are worth a trip to Encinitas, but there is also a fun and funky retail strip along Highway 101. Little more than 25 miles from downtown San Diego, it’s an easy drive if you can avoid rush hour. A pleasant alternative is to take the Coaster to the Encinitas station, which is a short walk to the beach.
